US Dream

Living The US Dream

If you’ve ever used a Joyo pedal then you may already have expectations about the US Dream.
Joyo are nothing if not consistent. They produce decent, budget pedals that are, for the most part, great for beginners but not much to write home about. Is the US Dream any different?

A Decent Budget Distortion

It’s worth saying that the Joyo US Dream is among Joyo’s better pedals. As an emulation of a 100-watt stack, it provides a full and rich sound. Furthermore, it has something many Joyo pedals often lack – an identity. This isn’t just a ‘generic’ overdrive, but a more unique take on a classic effect. Overall, it works well as a basic boost, but where it really excels is hard rock by offering deep, saturated tones.

All that being said, the US Dream still falls solidly into the category of budget pedal and not just because of the price. The sound is great for what it is, but for most guitarists, the US Dream is simply too bulky to be worth the space it takes up on a board. At the end of the day, you could get the same kind of effect out of a decent mini pedal and still have room for two more.

Great Value From Joyo Pedals

If you’re looking to buy your first distortion pedal, and you want something that’s easy to use, then it’s hard to deny that Joyo pedals are great value. The only brand that can really compete with them on price is Behringer, but where Behringer’s pedals are made from plastic, Joyo use nice, sturdy aluminium.
But which will give you a better sound?
Well, here at TonePedia, we like to leave that up to you. Why not give both brands a listen and decide for yourself which budget distortion is right for you?
