PlexiTone Lo Gain

Carl Martin Pedals

Ever since their founding in 1990, East Sound Reach – also known as Carl Martin pedals – have been producing unique and interesting effects. The PlexiTone Lo Gain continues in that glorious heritage by proving that sometimes less is more.
This low gain overdrive pedal is essentially a new iteration on their single-channel Plexitone – a great little pedal in its own right.
But what makes PlexiTone Lo Gain so special?

A Fantastic Low Gain Overdrive

One of the real selling points of the Lo Gain is its ability to cope with variable voltage from AC or DC power supplies.
Designed with the amp and guitar in mind, this pedal will drive your amp to get that natural, saturated sound.
That’s not to say it can’t kick ass when it needs to. If you dial that gain right up, you’ll certainly hear something special, but where this pedal really excels is as a low-end boost.
After all, it’s in the name!

Should You Buy The PlexiTone Lo Gain?

If you’re looking to buy this pedal, then you’re probably expecting to pay a standard boutique pedal price. If so, then we’ve got some good news for you.
This pedal retails between $110 and $120, which is pretty incredible for a unique buy like this one.
Of course, this pedal certainly isn’t for everyone. While, as we said before, it can hold its own as a serious overdrive, this pedal isn’t meant for anything approaching the luscious, thick distortion you’ll get on some pedals. Ultimately, the PlexiTone Lo Gain is great for blues or even soft rock players, but if you’re looking to go heavier then you’ll want a pedal with a little more bite to it.

Of course, those are just our thoughts. Check out this pedal for yourself here on Tonepedia to get a truly unbias sound review and decide whether or not the Lo Gain is right for you.
