Germanium Filter

The Germanium Filter from Death By Audio is a filter fuzz but with a twist. As expected from DBA this gets super gnarly, even in MXR Blue Box territory at times.

Death By Audio from New York has been around for a long time now, making such crazy pedals like the Fuzz War. This new release is in the same vein as the Fuzz War but the filter effect makes things even crazier.

The Germanium Filter seems to work best suited for Sludge and Grunge. It would also work very well for Delta Blues too if dialled in just right and paired with a light drive. This is because of the low octaves introduced at times.

With just two knobs & a single foot-switch, this is a super simple pedal. However, the interaction between the controls means the pedal has many more tones than expected. This little package has a tonne to offer.

Filter Fun

The Germanium Filter works like this:

• Heavy – High – At heavy expect random octaves, turn it up to roll off the bass.
• Clean – Dirty  – This pushes the filter, whatever you dialled in there is accentuated by adding in dirt
• After Modulation – Try the Germanium Filter after a chorus or delay/reverb for crazy cool tones.

Modern Approach To Fuzz

With the filter at noon, the mid-cut will give more traditional fuzz tones. What makes this a modern beast, is the balls to the wall “see what can you do with this” approach. We Love DBA for this and can’t wait to see what they make next.
