CE-2 Chorus Ensemble

CE-2 Chorus Ensemble

The CE-2 Chorus Ensemble from BOSS is not just a Chorus but for many it’s THE Chorus.

BOSS made CE-1 first for keyboard players, when their compact range came out players demanded that sound in the compact enclosure. This was the result, no need to mod it for guitar as this was designed specifically for it.

Chorus Style

The CE-2 seems to work best suited for 80’s rock and ballads however it would work very well for metal too. This is because when teamed up with overdrive chorus makes a guitar tone sound like anguish. Yes chorus did define the sound of the 80’s but it has so much more to offer.

Undoubtable a BOSS pedal to look at its sleek, symmetrical and simple. These are features which work towards its appeal but it’s the tones which sell the pedal.

Simple Ensemble

The CE-2 doesn’t just Chorus, thanks to these features it offers much more:

  • Rate – At low settings the Rate adds sparkle to a clean tone. Turn it up and you get a faux Leslie Rotating Speaker effect
  • Depth – With the rate low use this to dial in the sparkle. With the rate higher use this to feel dial in feeling seasick.

Vintage

The CE-2 is one of the most important pedals from history and was used by almost every artist in the 80s. Still used today by tone puristists, BOSS reissued it with the CE-2w Also found on TonePedia.
