Martin D-35 1975

About this guitar:
Features
The Martin D-35 is totally different. It has a spruce top and Rosewood back and sides. Its special feature is that the back is made out of three pieces and not two, like most guitars.
The D-35 is a more high end guitar that costs twice as the D-15. It has binding on the body and on the neck. It has gloss finish on the body. My D-35 is from 1975 and has the wider 1 3/4" neck. (Usually it's 1 11/16")
Tone
The D-35 is like a grand piano. It is very resonant and has a fuller sound. It has big sound all across the frequencies. It has a fat ,lush sparkling sound.
It has more overtones and harmonic things going on and hence is less dry and percussive and sometimes harder to record. On the other hand, It has great volume and presence which makes it ideal for playing with a band and cutting through the mix.
Playbility
My D-35 is 34 years old and like me , isn't in a perfect physical condition.
Martin didn't use adjustable truss rods back then. My old D-35 guitar needs a serious set up or even a neck-reset. It is still very playable but not perfect. Its action is a little high when you go up the neck, its intonation is also not the best and so its tuning stability. I suspect the old huge Grover tuners are a little sloppy and I plan to replace them (I will tell about it some other time).
The good thing is I love the wide 1 3/4 neck. It gives you a feeling of authority and power when you strum.
